RAND FILES CONTEMPT CHARGES FOR FAUCI...

Rand files contempt charges for Fauci. Senate resolution from Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs: certify the committee report on Anthony S. Fauci's refusal to answer under subpoena — and send it to the U.S. Attorney for D.C. for prosecution under 2 U.S.C. 192 and 194.
The record in the resolution: subpoenaed on COVID origins and risky life-sciences research; appeared July 29; took the Fifth after prepared remarks. Chairman Paul ruled the privilege unsupported — Biden's January 19, 2025 full pardon covers 2014 through the pardon date — and found waiver from the opening statement. Fauci still refused. Dropped. The Science took the Fifth. Now Congress moves.
MEDICARE SHOULD SCREEN FOR ALZHEIMER'S LIKE BLOOD PRESSURE...
View post on X
Americans wait an average of 3.5 years for a dementia diagnosis — often after irreversible decline has already begun. Over 7 million living with Alzheimer's, nearly 600,000 in Florida alone. Science has blood tests, better imaging, and ways to protect brain health. Access is the bottleneck.
Terry Schilling highlights Florida Elder Affairs Secretary Michelle Branham's case: Medicare should require standardized cognitive assessments at annual wellness visits — the same way we already check blood pressure and cholesterol. Early detection buys families time, independence, and years that matter. It also delays nursing-home costs. Policy needs to catch the science. Washington Examiner →

THE GUY WITH THE GLASSES IS AN INSANE HUMAN BEING...
The guy with the glasses is an insane human being. Yale Law's Samuel Moyn, on Ross Douthat's Interesting Times: don't give parents proxy votes for their kids. Give them to young adults instead. Why? "There's a divergence of interest between parents and children." Young people who aren't raising families, he says, will have "the best insight into the interests of children." Parents confuse the family's interests with the child's. Society's job includes making sure children "aren't the hostages of their parents."
Douthat's reply lands: it's absurd to imagine a 24-year-old recent college graduate has a better read on his kids than he does. Parents raise them. Parents bury them. Parents sit up at 2 a.m. A childless voting bloc does not get to claim the kids as political inventory. Remember the name.
THE REAL COVID SCANDAL: THEY STILL BELIEVE EXPERTS OUTRANK YOUR RIGHTS...
View post on X
RFK Jr. sat on CNN's State of the Union and said the government's first duty in any future pandemic is protecting constitutional rights. Not balancing them against expert opinion. Not parking them until the emergency ends. Protecting them.
Politico framed it like a scandal: constitutional rights take priority over "public health." The implied question between the lines was how anything could. That tell matters more than the quote. Years after lockdowns, school closures, church bans, and forced shots, a large slice of the press still treats the Bill of Rights as a scheduling conflict with the next model run.
Dana Bash told the HHS secretary she did not want to "allow" him to say things that were not entirely true. Allow. Not challenge. Not disagree. Allow. That is a gatekeeper deciding which premises may air — not a reporter testing a claim. Kennedy called the method: all she knows how to do is repeat what people told her and say trust the experts. She kept talking over him anyway.
Watch what barely registered. Kennedy said we did virtually everything wrong last time. Bash did not litigate the body count, the nursing-home transfers, the flipped guidance, the lab-leak smear, or the kids who lost years of school for a risk curve that never matched the panic. What registered was the unacceptable suggestion that rights might rank above the public-health machinery. You're talking about rights, she said, and I'm asking about a potential public health crisis — as if those were rival topics instead of a hierarchy.
That hierarchy is the whole American bet. The Constitution was not written as advice for calm weather. It was written to restrain power when fear is highest and the people in charge are most certain they know better. Emergencies are when officials most want a hall pass. Emergencies are when you need the document most. If rights only apply when nobody is scared, they are not rights. They are permissions.
Lockdowns ended. Mandates expired. Emergency declarations lapsed. The assumption that experts outrank rights never left the building. It learned softer language. It waits for the next drill. Flopping Aces puts the dark passenger plainly: a technocratic class that wants the Court to find an emergency exception — collective safety over individual liberty, credentialed managers over civilian government — and keep the exception open until the heat death of the universe. If you think that is melodrama, look at how long "climate emergency" has already lived without an off switch.
"Public health" is not your health. The modifier does work. You can be ordered into an infected nursing home to die alone and the spreadsheet can still call it a win for the collective. Families lived that. So did closed schools, empty pews, ruined shops, and courts that blinked when power said temporary. Temporary is how permanent gets through the door.
Kennedy forced the ranking back onto television: rights first, then policy inside those bounds. Bash performed the surviving mindset live. Remember the word she chose. Flopping Aces →

Why your family might need chickens: Kevin Espiritu says every egg-price spike brings the "just get backyard chickens" financial-hack post — except your backyard eggs will probably cost more than store-bought for years (or forever). And they might still be one of the best things you ever add to your life. Not a spreadsheet win. A family one.
