Trump says he could do without transgender “mutilization
Rapid Response 47 posted the remark during a South Carolina Senate rally where Trump promised a ban on sex-change surgery for children.
Sex-change procedures on minors must end. At a South Carolina speech, Rapid Response 47’s Oct. 21 post on X attributed these words to President Donald Trump: “You see, they're into transgender mutilization. Me personally? I could do without it.” Me personally? I could do without it.” The post linked the remark to what it called “Radical Left lunatics” interrupting his speech.”1
“You see, they're into transgender mutilization.”
That line came from a rally in Pendleton held two weeks before the Nov. 3 election to boost Sen. Darline Graham, the Republican nominee2. Trump spoke in a Clemson University livestock arena, the T. Ed Garrison Arena. Graham faces Democrat Annie Andrews, a pediatrician, in a race the Cook Political Report moved from solidly Republican to likely Republican, CNN reports4. Early voting had begun Oct. 19. Graham told the crowd, “Y’all, this is close.”3
Several protesters interrupted the event, and security escorted them from the arena, WCSC reported5.
Before Trump spoke, Sen. Tim Scott said Republican ads on transgender issues had pushed Andrews into recording a statement that she is against “biological men playing women’s sports” and hadn’t performed “gender surgery for minors.”3 CNN reports that Andrews previously supported hormone treatment for children but has said she does not support gender-identity surgery for minors. ==CNN also reports that Andrews has said she does not support gender-identity surgery for minors{#rpot-011}. Trump said Andrews advocates giving puberty blockers to young children=={#rpot-022}.
Trump closed his hour-and-a-half speech by promising laws that ban transgender girls from playing in girls’ sports and ban gender reassignment surgery for children3. Whether that promise becomes law will decide what a clinic may do to a child, and what a parent can stop.
Family Brief holds that sex-change procedures on minors must end, from surgery to puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. Trump’s pledge3 is the right one, and Congress should write it into law. South Carolina voters should ask Andrews where she stands on hormones for children.
