Prisha Mosley says transition made adult life harder
Mosley’s post says hormones made pregnancy harder; her testimony describes lasting effects of teenage treatment and the struggle to feed her baby.
Prisha Mosley says transitioning made ordinary adult life harder1, and the costs she names reach as far as pregnancy and childbirth. She added that she is glad she stopped.
The Telegraph reports that Mosley now works full-time as a campaigner against hormone treatment and puberty blockers2. She describes where she is today in her own words: "Trans was just a phase. Now I'm a mom and wife3." Parents deciding what a clinic may do to a teenager are deciding what that child's adult life will carry.
“Transition makes it harder to be a functioning adult.”
Changing her name and documents made legal paperwork hard, and changing her appearance made dating harder1. Surgery, she writes, made breastfeeding impossible. Her conclusion is blunt: "Transition makes it harder to be a functioning adult."
She was answering Jeanmarie Bartosz, who replied on Oct. 10 that Mosley was "looking for others to blame for your detour in life." Another X user answered Bartosz by asking what puberty blockers are for if not to stop a child from growing up. In the same thread, Mosley wrote that her doctors were unable to change her sex.”3
Her testimony to Maryland lawmakers supporting HB 679 answers that charge with her account of her teenage years. She says high-dose testosterone began when she was a teenager and that her body can no longer regulate its own hormones4. She says her surgeon left breast tissue behind, so she could not feed her baby from her body.
Kelsey Bolar's June 26, 2024 IWFeatures report adds that Mosley started testosterone at 17 and gave birth to a healthy son by C-section on June 35. Bolar also reports that on May 7, Judge Robert Ervin of the North Carolina Superior Court denied motions to dismiss her fraud, facilitating fraud and civil conspiracy claims.
The Telegraph quotes Mosley saying she speaks so “other kids don't have to go through what I went through.”2 Her parents supported the treatment at the time; they now say they were lied to by the doctors treating her. That leaves a family that trusted clinicians with a teenager holding the consequences4, and it is why lawmakers who received her HB 679 testimony should heed it.
She urged lawmakers to protect children from the medical fraud and malpractice she says she experienced; lawmakers should take that warning seriously. Children deserve that protection from puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones before another family lives through what hers did.
