“Glamorizing it doesn't make the operation something else.”

Reminder that only a man can be castrated. Glamorizing it doesn't make the operation something else.

The post makes two points: it defines castration by sex, and it denies that a polished description can turn an operation into something else. For parents, that is a fight over words, because the name an institution gives an intervention shapes what a family thinks it is agreeing to.

Mosley writes from inside a documented legal fight over her own transition. Carolina Journal reported that the North Carolina Court of Appeals heard an hour of oral arguments in Mosley v. Emerson. Mosley alleges medical malpractice, fraud and conspiracy by the defendants during her transition, and a Gaston County trial judge threw out her claims. Her brief says her medical team was “a pediatrician, two licensed counselors, and a plastic surgeon,” and that she took testosterone and had her breasts removed2.

Her lawyer, Troy Shelton, told the court that “instead of getting help, what Prisha actually got from the defendants was ideology masquerading as medicine.” The defendants answer that the suit arrived after the statute of repose, an absolute filing deadline, expired. The court will decide in the months ahead whether Mosley can proceed2.

Family Brief opposes sex-change procedures on minors, and parents are owed plain words about what is done to their children. Mosley's post names no minor, no procedure and no policy. The case that tests how courts treat a family's claim over a teenager's transition lawsuit over Mosley’s transition is Mosley v. Emerson, and the Court of Appeals ruling is the next thing to watch.
