Omar’s husband’s winery sold investors empty barrels, Comer says

California records show eStCru was terminated April 4, while House Oversight sought records on the finances of Mynett’s winery and venture-capital firm.

Libs of TikTok posted on X on October 19, 2026, that Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband's winery was “SHUT DOWN for FRAUD” after they reportedly sold empty wine barrels1. The winery is eStCru, which Newsweek reports was co-owned by Omar's husband, Timothy Mynett2.

The empty-barrel claim comes from House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, who told Fox News on October 19 that investors were sold barrels with nothing inside3. California business records show eStCru was terminated on April 4, and a company representative confirmed the filing, Newsweek reported2.

Yahoo reported that eStCru was never a traditional winery but a label that subcontracted West Coast producers to bottle its wines. By early 2023, its winemakers said they had stopped getting paid. A 2024 Minnesota Reformer report said the business was hit with several fraud allegations and investor lawsuits4. One of those suits came from Washington, D.C., businessman Naeem Mohd, who sued Mynett, Will Hailer and eStCru in 2023, alleging they broke a promise to triple his $300,000 investment in 18 months. Mohd moved to drop the suit in November 2024 after a settlement, which his attorney told the Free Beacon was paid5.

Omar later amended her disclosure, cutting the two businesses to “none” and the couple's assets to between $18,004 and $95,000, Newsweek reported. Her representatives blamed incomplete information from the businesses' accountants. Her lawyer told the Office of Congressional Conduct that “there is nothing untoward and nothing illegal has occurred.”2

In February, Comer wrote Mynett requesting “all documents and communications” on the finances of eStCru and his venture-capital firm, Rose Lake Capital6. His letter cited Omar's disclosures showing the two companies rising from as much as $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 20244.
