The summit agenda
The livestreamed event, the Joyful Warriors National Summit, marks the fifth anniversary of the organization3. On Friday, October 9, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott delivered the summit’s Welcome to Texas address and championed parents’ rights in education. Abbott said parents are the most important decision-makers in a child’s life and that parents deserve transparency in curriculum; he also said schools are for education, not indoctrination. He was introduced by Moms for Liberty co-founder and CEO Tina Descovich4.
The summit's Saturday schedule lists sessions titled “Strong Families. Strong Children. Strong Communities” and “The Battle for America’s Future”. The schedule lists Saturday’s 8 a.m. session, “Strong Families. Strong Children. Strong Communities,” followed by “The Battle for America’s Future” at 12:15 p.m., with Cory DeAngelis and Dr. James Lindsay. The schedule lists a Saturday-night awards dinner featuring Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton; AFN reports that Paxton is running against James Talarico for a U.S. Senate seat. AFN reports that summit speaker Jennifer Sey is the founder and CEO of XX-XY Athletics, an apparel company devoted to protecting women’s sports and spaces3. Sey is scheduled to speak on standing for truth alongside Kimberly Richey, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education. The summit page says Real America’s Voice, its official media partner, is providing livestreams of selected sessions. Finally, the livestream schedule lists a Sunday morning session titled 'Blessings of Liberty' featuring Rick Green, Jack Brewer, and KrisAnne Hall2.
Our view
True education reform begins when school systems respect parental authority, reject woke indoctrination, and return to academic excellence and biological reality.
Parents have a natural right, and a responsibility, to direct the care, education and upbringing of their children; the family is prior to government, not subject to it. That is the standard Family Brief applies to every education fight parents carry home from Dallas: curriculum belongs to parents, states and localities, not to federal or activist orthodoxy. Families, especially lower- and middle-income ones, should be free to choose charter, religious and private schools or homeschooling, because those who answer for a child's upbringing must be the ones who direct it.
