Heritage recruits for a paid America First policy internship
Heritage says rolling hiring is underway as its post advertises paid Washington work, convenient housing and access to conservative leaders.
On Oct. 18, 2026, The Heritage Foundation invited young conservatives to Washington for a paid spring internship, describing it as an opportunity to join its America First policy work. The invitation says hiring for that paid placement is underway on a rolling basis and urges interested applicants to apply now1.
Heritage’s announcement appears below.
Heritage’s post presents the opportunity as a way to gain experience and connections in the conservative movement, with work in the nation’s capital and convenient housing among its advertised benefits. Heritage’s Oct. 18 post calls the internship paid. Heritage says rolling hiring is underway1. The foundation also promotes a community of young conservative leaders. A third-party HeySuccess listing for Heritage’s Young Leaders Program describes outreach to younger audiences as part of the program’s work and says the program handles Heritage internships and campus outreach. The listing says applicants need at least 60 college credits or an associate degree; recent graduates, master’s students and law students are also encouraged to apply. It says international students may apply if authorized to work in the United States. The listing places intern housing adjacent to Heritage’s office on the Senate side of Capitol Hill. Workshops cover research, op-ed writing, blogging, résumé writing and networking2.
That listing gives Jan. 31, 2027, as the application deadline and May 10 through Aug. 6, 2027, as the program dates. It also describes seminars, policy briefings and opportunities to meet policymakers as elements of the internship experience2.
Heritage’s post advertises paid work1, while the HeySuccess listing marks the internship as not funded. The listing also describes weekly First Principles sessions and weekly briefings with Heritage policy experts on domestic and foreign policy. It says young conservatives can interact with those experts through a program Facebook page and weekly newsletter. The listing names Helena Ramirez Richardson as director and Colleen Harmon as program manager of the Young Leaders Program2.
An internship advertisement describes a career opportunity, not a specific family-policy commitment or the work an individual intern will perform. Applicants should distinguish the experience Heritage promotes from any particular policy position they may want to evaluate. That standard keeps a recruitment pitch from being mistaken for a pledge and leaves policy judgments to the positions Heritage actually advances.
