Chris Murphy says his fund sent $525,000 to Democrats

The reported allocation spans three national committees and 25 state parties as Democrats say they are within striking distance of a Senate majority.

Sen. Chris Murphy said his mobilization fund sent $525,000—more than $500,000—to state parties and Democrats’ House and Senate committees1, the Connecticut Centinal reports. The money goes to national and state committees working to boost Democrats in the midterms, according to POLITICO's first look at the details2.

POLITICO reported that Murphy is investing $200,000 with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and $100,000 with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He is also investing the same amount in the Democratic National Committee. The remaining $125,000 is spread across 25 state Democratic parties. In a statement, Murphy said Democrats need majorities to pass a new minimum wage and rein in what he called Trump's illegal war, and that winning those majorities requires investment2.

FEC records show the Murphy Mobilization Fund reported $2,532,715 in transfers to affiliated committees from April 1, 2025, through June 30, 20264. POLITICO reports Murphy's 2026-cycle tally above $2.5 million. The tally includes nearly $250,000 transferred to Democratic Senate candidates and more than $300,000 he raised directly for them2.

Murphy is expected to hold more fundraisers in the final stretch of the midterms and says he aims to back candidates ready to build a populist movement2. In an email, Murphy said, "these investments won’t be our last1."
