Mizzou staffer says DEI work continues under different wording

Family Brief Staff

Mizzou says it eliminated all DEI programs and curriculum requirements; its response now promises an investigation and action if staff violated policy or law.

University of Missouri staffers described The Bridge as focused on DEI, according to The College Fix. "We’re still trying to do the work," the staffer said. "It’s just... everything’s going to be done under, you know, different wording." Accuracy in Media made the video1.

In July 2024, President Mun Choi dissolved the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity division and promised that "support and success programs that were available before the reorganization will be available after the reorganization." KBIA reported at the time that no staff would be laid off and all programming would remain, just under different departments3. Choi credited the university's "proactive responses" with helping block 13 DEI bills in the Missouri Legislature2.

In the video, the first staffer said The Bridge is focused on "DEI, like inclusion and stuff like that" and runs open discussions and forums. A second staffer said all of the program's events are focused on "expanding multicultural perspectives on, like, social justice issues." The College Fix reports that The Bridge's webpage has since been taken down. A Google cache of the page described a "multicultural lounge and brave space designed to expand perspectives on social issues through learning, training, and service1."

The edited video runs nearly four minutes and carries a Dec. 12, 2025, time-date stamp. It is the latest in a series of Accuracy in Media undercover videos from Missouri campuses released over the last two months1.

Mizzou answered on X on Oct. 13 that it "voluntarily eliminated all DEI programs and DEI requirements in the curriculum." That claim now sits beside its own staffer's description of a DEI-focused program. An earlier video in the series had consequences: The College Fix reported in late August that a University of Missouri-Kansas City employee was suspended after being recorded saying the school still practices DEI under a different name1. Mizzou said the individual and the unit in the new video "will be investigated and appropriate actions will be taken if they are found to have violated our policies or federal and state laws4."
