Ilhan Omar must be expelled or America will perish, MacIntyre says

Family Brief Staff

A federal search of Omar’s home followed scrutiny of a reported birth-year change; MacIntyre’s post turns the citizenship dispute into a demand for expulsion.

Auron MacIntyre called for Rep. Ilhan Omar’s expulsion on X on October 14, writing, “A country without the will to expel Ilhan Omar will not exist for long.” He quoted Insider Wire’s claim that her staff changed her birthdate after she entered Congress1.

The records dispute reaches beyond a congressional biography: the New York Post reports that the change fueled accusations Omar misrepresented her age to obtain U.S. citizenship2.

  1. September 2018Omar told The Intercept she became a citizen before turning 18 through her father’s naturalization.
  2. October 14MacIntyre posted his call for Omar’s expulsion on X.

Emails reviewed by the New York Post show Omar’s congressional staff asked the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library to correct her birth year after a political opponent’s video questioned her age. Staff were also working with Wikipedia and the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress on corrections2.

Critics contend that an older birth year would conflict with Omar’s account of becoming a citizen in 2000. Omar told The Intercept in September 2018, “I became a citizen actually before I turned 18,” through her father’s naturalization2.

The Washington Post, citing three people familiar with the matter, reports that the federal investigation concerns claims Omar or her late father lied on decades-old immigration paperwork3. Omar denied fraud allegations and answered on X: “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns.”2

The library’s record shifted from 1981 to 1982 in May 2019, the New York Post reports.

The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library listed Omar's birthdate as Oct. 4, 1981, and so did Wikipedia and the BBC, the New York Post reports. The Post says that listing held through her entire state House tenure and several months into her congressional term2. The revision is one year, from 1981 to 1982.

House Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin said Democrats would demand accountability for who authorized and conducted the search of Omar’s home4. AOL reports that the court order was initiated by the Justice Department.
