TRUMP WANTS COLLEGES TO PROVE A DEGREE IS WORTH IT...
Nearly $2 trillion in student debt. One in five borrowers in default now that repayment is back. The average four-year degree runs about $153,000 — private schools closer to $234,000. Families paid. Campuses collected. Too many graduates got a ceremony and a balance, not a wage that clears it.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon: higher ed built "an educational theme park — flashy, fun, but not practical for those seeking opportunity and advancement." Enrollment already cracked — high-school grads heading to college fell from roughly 70% (2016 peak) to about 62%. Roughly 60 campuses a year are closing.
Trump's Education Department puts skin in the game on the college: programs that take federal student aid must show graduates earn more than comparable workers — or lose access to federal loans. Three-year lookback; hit the earnings bar in at least two. Fail the test, lose the pipeline. (Daily Wire)
